About the Job

As our HR Business Partner, you’ll be at the heart of attracting, supporting, and developing our team. You’ll take ownership of the full employee journey, while also advising leadership and helping us prepare for the future. In this role, you’ll be the trusted point of contact for colleagues and managers alike, ensuring compliance with Dutch labour law while fostering an inspiring and supportive workplace.

Smarthotel is a fast-growing SaaS company in the hospitality industry. We help hotels work smarter with software that connects them to online travel agencies, manages bookings, and automates payments. With a team of 30+ colleagues, we’re scaling quickly. Your expertise will be key to supporting our people as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you’ll work closely with leadership, management, and colleagues on projects that help Smarthotel grow and scale. Your focus will include: 

HR Operations & Compliance 

  • Draft and manage employment contracts, policies, and documentation in line with Dutch labour law 

  • Oversee payroll & benefits, leave, and employee records 

  • Ensure GDPR compliance in HR processes 

Strategic Projects 

  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and scaling initiatives 

  • Contribute to HR process improvements that prepare us for growth 

  • Support performance and development frameworks 

Recruitment & Onboarding 

  • Partner with hiring managers to attract and select new team members

  • Manage early-stage recruitment (profiling, CV screening, intro calls)

  • Ensure a smooth, welcoming onboarding process 

People & Culture 

  • Act as a trusted advisor and first point of contact for employees and managers

  • Support development conversations, feedback, and growth opportunities

  • Help strengthen our culture, engagement, and employee experience

About You

  • Must-haves 

    • 3–6 years of experience in HR  

    • Strong knowledge of Dutch labour law and compliance 

    • Experience with contracts, HR documentation, and policies 

    • Fluency in Dutch and English 

    • Strong organisational and communication skills 

    • Comfortable switching between hands-on tasks and strategic thinking 

  • Nice-to-haves 

    • Experience in SaaS, tech, or scale-up environments 

    • Familiarity with recruitment processes and HR tools

    • Interest in learning & development or talent programmes
